
Emma is an experienced lawyer who focuses in family/divorce law. She is a certified collaborative lawyer and accredited family law mediator. Emma focuses her practice on out of court processes.
As a lawyer Emma provides exceptional services in all areas of family law with a special interest in assisting clients with asset/wealth preservation and estate planning through prenuptial or cohabitation agreements. She recognizes the difficulties that are faced by families who are going through a separation and strives to provide practical solutions for her clients in issues of divorce, division or property, spousal support, parenting, child support, and in drafting separation agreements. Emma is a Collaborative Law Professional who endeavors to assist parties in reaching settlement in an out of court process through collaborative law, negotiation and mediation.
As a mediator Emma assists parties to navigate the issues in their separation and by focusing on the future.
Born and raised in Victoria, Emma completed a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in history and political science from the University of Toronto. Emma subsequently attended the University of Calgary Faculty of Law where she completed her J.D. She commenced her legal career in Calgary, Alberta where she worked at a boutique family law firm before returning to Victoria. Emma joined Horne Coupar LLP in 2016 to expand Horne Coupar LLP’s practice in family.
Emma is on the executive of the Collaborative Family Separation Professionals group in Victoria and the Canadian Bar Association Section Executive of the Family Law – Vancouver Island Section.
Emma is based at the Oak Bay office and is also availabel to meet clients at the downtown location.
